SR 0022-P24 Structure Rehabilitations
This project included structure preservation work on a set of dual structures carrying SR 0022 over SR 1002 in Fermanagh Township, Juniata County. Gibson-Thomas performed the design work on the project for PennDOT District 2-0.
The two structures are three span prestressed concrete I-beam bridges. The preservation work included addition of a latex modified concrete wearing surface, neoprene strip seal dams above each pier, various cement concrete repairs, cement concrete pier encapsulation, and full-width bridge approach slabs. The design team also evaluated the existing roadway drainage and recommended replacement of the inlets at the downstream ends of the structures. Traffic was maintained during construction using long-term single lane closures.
The work was completed on these two structures in the Fall of 2019.
