Spring Road Bridge
This project was the replacement of the two-span bridge carrying S.R. 0034 Spring Road, over the Conodoguinet Creek in Cumberland County. The design was completed 1-year ahead of schedule to take advantage of American Recovery & Reinvestment Act Funding. The project involved the replacement of a two-span 190-foot steel thru-girder bridge with a new prestressed concrete adjacent box beam structure of similar length. PennDOT District 8-0 staff indicated that Gibson-Thomas did an excellent job delivering a high profile stimulus project. The firm adjusted well to an aggressive schedule and still managed to deliver a quality product. We did not encounter any major issues during construction, a result of a quality plan. This project won the America’s Transportation Awards 2010 for the Northeast region sponsored by AASHTO.
