Ghost Town Trail Recreational Bridge Reconstruction
Phase III of the Ghost Town Trail construction was focused on a bend in Blacklick Creek west of Dilltown. At that location, two former railroad bridges had been washed away in a flood and not replaced. The Gibson-Thomas team evaluated the remaining substructure elements and designed a project that would repair these features and install prefabricated metal bridges across the creek. The key challenge facing the design was the extremely remote location of the bridge sites; access agreements had to be secured from neighboring land owners to reach the locations.
The bridges were open to trail traffic in 2009.
