Tubmill Dam

Tubmill Dam is an 1100 foot long, 40 foot high, masonry gravity dam with a storage capacity of 200 million gallons at normal pool elevation. The dam was originally constructed in 1907 to supply water to the Pennsylvania Railroad, but is now owned by the Highridge Water Authority to supply domestic water to the Tubmill Water Filtration Plant for its customers in Westmoreland and Indiana Counties. Gibson-Thomas oversaw the preparation of a Hydrologic and Hydraulic Report and Breach Analysis in conjunction with preparing the Emergency Action Plan for this structure. Currently, a subsurface geotechnical investigation is underway to complete a Stability Analysis for this dam to satisfy PA DEP requirements.
