Hempfield Park – Ball Field, Parking Renovations and Dog Park
This project involved the renovation of an existing baseball/softball field, two parking areas, and installation of a new dog park at Hempfield Park. Existing amenities at the park include a one mile walking trail, lighted tennis courts, a volleyball court, horseshoe pits, soccer fields, baseball fields, playground equipment, a Bocce court, five pavilions, a stage, a multi-purpose athletic complex, and parking.
The renovations to the upper baseball/softball field involved some limited grading on and around the field to improve drainage characteristics. The parking lot next to the upper ballfield was slightly regraded, two handicapped parking stalls were installed, and an existing sidewalk was upgraded to be ADA compliant. The new dog park was installed across the road from the ball field. The only earthwork involved in the dog park construction was digging holes to install fence posts around the dog park and surface preparation for the walking path.
